    • Corporal Kile was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. As a member Task Force MacLean, he was fighting a delaying action against the Chinese near Changjin east to the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea on or about December 2, 1950.. He was listed as Missing in Action on December 12, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. DOD records cite December 12, 1950, as date of loss, but due to the internal chaos within the unit due to high losses, it is impossible without eyewitness confirmation to have a specific date of actual loss. By December 12, 1950, the unit was in reserve in the Hamhung-Hungnam area. He was known to his family as "Walkie."
